Vesna Stefanovic Gruppman's career started early as a six-time winner of Yugoslavia's National Violin Competition, before going on to study at Moscow's legendary Central Special Musical School and the Moscow Conservatory. Today, Ms. Gruppman is active as a violin and viola soloist, having appeared with the Prague Philharmonic, the Moscow Philharmonic, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Ukraine Philharmonic, Florida Philharmonic, and London's Beethoven Philharmonic, and in recitals at London's Wigmore Hall and St. John's Smith Square, Kiev Philharmonic Hall and Mozart's Bemtraka in Prague. Critics praise her "electrifyingly intense, ripe-toned viola playing" (Classical CD Digest) and her "luxuriously rich and full-toned sound" (San Diego Tribune). As a chamber musician she regularly appears with her husband, Igor Gruppman, in the Gruppman Duo (violin,violin/viola), and has collaborated with the Tokyo String Quartet, the principal players of the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Pinkas Zukerman, Itzak Perlman, Jamie Laredo, and Lynn Harrell.
