The Gaede-Trio was founded in 1991 and ranks as one of the leading string-trios. The ensemble is giving increasing attention to contemporary music apart from the common repertoire. Renowned composers have written works especially for the Gaede-Trio. Compositions by Georg Katzer, Siegfried Matthus and Berthold Goldschmidt were broadcast by important broadcasting corporations in Germany and have come out on several CD-recordings.
In addition to regular performances in European music centers (among them Musikverein Wien, Konzerthaus Berlin) the Gaede-Trio give concerts in numerous countries of South America, in Asia and the Middle East.

In the United States, the ensemble has performed in New York City, Cleveland, Los Angeles and San Diego.
Critics confirm the ensemble's competence of style, their exceptional culture of tone and their absolute homogeneity. The Gaede-Trio's last CD-recording was chosen "Audiophil classic CD of the Month" by the music magazine steroplay (March '98).
